Hello again Philip,I fail to see why such an eminently sensible proposition as yours cannot get heard in Parliament through a Private Member's Bill. I'm sure there must be thousands, perhaps hunfreds of thousands of Australians who would support such a suggestion.
I for one am going to canvass my local member to see whether or not he will take the matter to the floor of Parliament.
Keep up your campaign. The're the only sensible emails I ever receive.
Sincerely,

Dear Mr McKeonThe Premier has received your recent email concerning republicanism.
As the subject you have raised primarily relates to areas of Commonwealth responsibility, Mr Iemma is unable to be of direct assistance.
Accordingly, the opportunity has been taken to bring the terms of your approach to the attention of the Commonwealth Government.
Yours sincerely

As always thanks for your thoughts, you know I'm a supporter of greater gender equity in parliament.Tanya

19 October, 2007[Re: gender apartheid]
Men and women are different. Women have the ability to carry and give birth to a baby. They are the creators of culture and family. The reason that women need special rights is because, in our patriarchal society, men make the rules. And the rules are constructed in a way that men are more likely to succeed in getting a place in a political party than women.
Therefore, since no-one seems to be getting rid of patriarchy, we need a way for women to have some form of semblance of equality - through what some people call gender apartheid, and what I would call "giving women an opportunity to contribute the political process where they otherwise wouldn't be able to".
No man has a right to decide what is right for women. Women are probably the ones that have demanded this "gender apartheid".

Hi Philip,Thanks for your email - I liked the video version too. Always good to see technology being used to get views across.
I'm not sure that I agree that a vote for a male candidate is a vote for an imbecile - in some cases, perhaps, but certainly not in all.
I do agree that we need to see more women in our governments and I appreciate your commitment to this goal.
Best wishes,
Tanya

Hello Philip.I couldn't agree with you more. There are two sexes on this planet, and they are as different as chalk & cheese.
Why men & women have the SAME governance and the SAME laws, and yet share almost nothing else (not even public toilets!) is one of the greatest mysteries of our time.
Women are women, not men, and the legal system MUST recognise this glaringly obvious fact if ever there is to be parity between the sexes, something everyone agrees is desirable, but is clearly prevented by our Constitution!
I applaud your honesty in facing this appalling travesty head on, in the face, no doubt, of the worst disease of the 21st Century; political correctness.
Sincerely,
Laurence Dare

Dear PhilipThank you for your email on the important issue of the Government’s proposed changes to the Migration Act. The Democrats are opposed to these changes that, in our view, formally bring political considerations into the process for determining refugee claims. This would undermine proper due process and the rule of law.

16 February, 2006[Re: legacy to haunt a nation]
Thanks PhilipAppreciate your support again for women having more power! The gender divide on this issue makes a strong case for more women in parliament with 90% of women voting for the bill in the Senate and just 46% of men doing so. If it goes down in the reps it will be because of the even greater imbalance there.
